Cutting claim cycle time without cutting corners
Map a slow claim end to end and you’ll find the decisions took minutes. The weeks went on waiting — for a document, a call-back, a handler with capacity. Cycle time is queue time, and queue time is exactly what agents remove.
Find the queues, not the culprits
Instrument a sample of closed claims and measure time-in-queue between every step. Most books find three or four dominant queues — document chasing and cover checks are usually the worst — and they are almost never where the team thought.
Work every claim in parallel
Agents progress every open claim every day: chasing what’s missing, checking cover as documents land, updating reserves as facts arrive. A claim stops being "with someone" and starts being continuously worked.
Keep the decisions human
Speed that skips the judgement is leakage with better branding. Payments, settlements and repudiations keep a named handler’s gate — the cycle-time gains all come from the waiting, not the deciding.
